Mustangs · Veterans · First Responders

Boots & Hooves.

Pairing wild Mustangs with veterans and first responders. Two journeys that need each other, trust, patience, and resilience built on both sides of the halter.

What it is

Two journeys, one ranch.

Boots & Hooves is a unique program at Crossroads Ranch dedicated to pairing wild Mustangs with veterans and first responders. Participants work alongside our team to help gentle and train the Mustangs, creating a bond that aids in personal growth, healing, and skill development.

Whether you're a veteran seeking purpose or a Mustang needing a partner, Boots & Hooves brings two journeys together, and creates lasting partnerships and new beginnings.

Why it exists

The mission, in plain words.

We saw the need for support for veterans moving from military to civilian life. We built a program to help with that, to alleviate isolation, to build a community of peer support, and to spend time around animals that don't care about your service record but absolutely care that you showed up. Our mission includes the prevention of veteran suicide.
